About the Event

User Story Slicing

Working from a prioritized backlog of small User Stories allows a team to deliver value and gather customer feedback quickly. Many teams struggle to split large User Stories into small slices in a way that brings business value. Instead of generating small vertical slices that cut through all architectural layers, they get stories that look more like tasks or architectural components. Fortunately, story splitting is a skill that can be learned in a relatively short time.

User Story slicing workshop is a highly interactive session that explains the concept of vertical slicing. The goal of this workshop is to learn how to break large User Stories into smaller manageable pieces.

You will leave this session with a clear understanding of what vertical slicing is, why vertical slicing is more effective than horizontal slicing, and how to split big User Stories into small workable slices without creating unnecessary dependencies and risks.

Special Instructions:

Parking is free and available in the front of the building. There will be signs directing students to the Atrium Entrance, which is between the 2002 and 2000 buildings. Atrium doors will open 15 minutes ahead of the scheduled class. Please note that there is a fair amount of construction activity next to our building as they are completing the Silver Line Reston Town Center stop.
