About the Presentation:

This program will deliver actionable solutions and strategies to help project managers become more impactful and influential. Given all the processes, systems and subject matter expertise that project managers deal with, it’s easy to assume that getting all this right is the key to effectiveness, productivity and success. While all this is important, it does not get us to the highest level of influence or impact. There are some key ingredients missing that open up more opportunities and get us to a higher level of success. We call these ingredients the Human Elements of Innovation. This program will introduce you to this simple, yet profound framework to build your skills towards more impact and influence.

The Human Elements of Innovation is a framework of five skills together with tools and strategies to close our skill gap in these areas. You will leave this program with immediately actionable tools and strategies that you can put into place to innovate your project management, and as you do this increase the engagement of your team and drive more new solutions in your work. Extraordinary experts gain impact and influence. Participants who practice the Human Elements of Innovation get the following benefits: on an individual level higher impact and influence (higher success with innovations for the organizations), implementing more new solutions resulting in revenue growth through new services and product development and cost savings because of more efficient, new processes and higher employee and team engagement. This program is highly interactive, engaging and you will have a lot of fun.

Wear green to the event and receive a free drink ticket! We will be giving out 50 drink tickets, on a first-come, first-served basis.

There will also be a FREE BEER TASTING, provided by DC Brau. DC Brau Logo

About the Speakers

Josef Martens PhD., CSP

In addition to being a speaker, Josef is a recovering scientist. His PhD in physics from the University of Cambridge led to several patents which then led to a spin-off company that he and his colleagues started right out of university and which was many years later bought up for $285 million. Yet despite his expertise, when Josef started his professional career, he soon realized that other people (with far less expertise) have more impact and are more influential and successful in their work. Josef realized that he is missing something, and he set out to find what it was. He discovered that it’s the personal touch, the soft skills and our way of being that needs to be combined with our expertise. (With the "analytical expert genes" still in him, he turned what he learned into a framework to build self-awareness, developed a toolkit to make it actionable, and called it The Human Elements of Innovation). Once he started practicing this himself, he experienced having more influence and impact and relationships became more fulfilling and his career advanced. Josef has presented his high-energy and interactive programs to audiences in 30 countries on 5 continents to a long list of corporate and government clients. As a Certified Speaking Professional, Josef is in a group of only 700 speakers worldwide who have achieved this highest earned designation of the National Speaker Association.

About the Monthly Dinner Meetings

The PMIWDC Monthly Dinner Meetings are held at the Sheraton Tysons (8661 Leesburg Pike, Tysons, VA 22182), typically on the third Tuesday of each month (subject to change due to holidays and venue/speaker availability). Members and non-members are welcome to join us for the best speakers and networking the Washington, DC area has to offer.

The presentations are educational and informative to those professionals operating in the field of project management and functioning in leadership roles in industry and government. It is also of great value to those looking to step into the field of Project Management and begin their certification process. Each event will present specific learning points focusing on building a talent triangle of technical, leadership, and strategic and business management skills, unique to the presenter's area of expertise and the subject matter discussed while directly relating to improving the practice of managing projects and leading others. At each Monthly Chapter Event certified PMPs can earn 1 Professional Development Unit (PDU).
