About the Speaker
Melissa Highley, PfMP, PMP
A dynamic leader with almost twenty years of telecommunications management experience, Melissa Highley has spent the majority of her career in project, program and portfolio management. She currentlymanages the Business Operations PMO at Time Warner Cable where she is responsible for Sales, Marketing, Finance, Care and Operations initiatives. In addition, Melissa previously held positions in a variety of operational areas including call center, dispatch and field management. That experience has given Melissa a greater understanding of daily operations and an appreciation for how PM decisions impact the larger organization, thereby making her a more effective PMO leader.
After participating in PMI’s Portfolio Management Professional (PfMP) certification pilot, Melissa was one of the first 121 people worldwide to earn PfMP certificationin 2014. Subsequently, Melissa was invited by PMI to review and write PfMP exam questions in collaboration with an international team of portfolio management SMEs.
Melissa has an MBA in General Management, an MA in International Affairs and a BA in Communication with a minor in German. She possesses both PMP and PfMP certifications from PMI, and is in the process of pursuing ScrumMaster and Six Sigma Green Belt certifications.
About the Reston Local Community
Each month, PMIWDC Reston Local Community volunteers strive to bring you interesting and informative speakers from a wide range of professions. They present these speakers to you at the Leidos building or other organization located at Reston Town center. This is an opportunity to network with other professionals of the PMI. The conference center at Leidos offers a maximum seating of approximately 30 guests. Pre-registration is required. Luncheons are held every third Wednesday of the month.
