Participants will summarize common reactions to downsizing and job loss and identify corresponding leadership strategies; identify best practices for communicating information about downsizing; and identify strategies to enhance resiliency

About the Speaker

Virginia Nelson

Empowerment Plus
Founder of Empowerment Plus

Virginia Nelson is the founder of Empowerment Plus, a training enterprise in Glenn Dale, MD. With an extensive background in human resource development, she possesses excellent facilitation, consultative, and management skills. Prior to starting her own training business, she was a Senior Trainer at Booz-Allen & Hamilton.

Ms. Nelson is a Past President of the American Society for Training & Development (Washington, DC Chapter) and served on the Board of Directors for five years.
She has a B.S. in Psychology from Spelman College and a M.S. in Human Resource Development from Bowie State University. She has also taught Grad School at Bowie as an Adjunct Professor on the subject of Presentation and Facilitation skills.

Some of her clients include: Magellan Health Services, Anne Arundel County Public Schools, University of Maryland School of Dentistry, Maryland Department of Education, New Hanover County Public School (Wilmington, NC) and Prince George’s Community College in addition to corporate and private sector clients.
