Managing Delivery for Machine Learning Products

The last few years have seen a meteoric rise in disciplines related to using and exploring large quantities of data (Big Data), such as Artificial Intelligence and the Internet of Things. A part of the Artificial Intelligence domain, Machine Learning took hold in many corporations and started impacting the business outcomes. In turn, Project Managers are suddenly facing a different type of project they are asked to manage: the Machine Learning project. This presentation is addressed to experienced Project Managers who want to understand how to manage Machine Learning projects, what are the specific challenges they will face, and what are some best practices to help them successfully deliver business value.

About the Speaker

Zorina Alliata

Program Manager

Zorina Alliata is Project Manager professional who has extensive experience managing software projects, and has spent the last six years working in Machine Learning and Data Science teams and delivering data analytics and predictive modeling projects. Zorina currently works as a Program Manager for the AI/ML Global Public Sector program at Amazon Web Services.

Outside of work, Zorina writes books – both fiction and non-fiction – all available on Amazon. She is currently writing a sci-fi book about an android who doesn’t know that it’s an android. Her latest non-fiction series, “Get I.T.!”, focuses on getting people with no formal education or background to join the IT industry in entry level jobs. She also volunteers in the Zonta Club of Fairfax, an organization that works to help girls join and thrive in STEM programs. Zorina lives in Alexandria with her husband, a teenage son who is a high-school football superstar, and way too many pets.

About the Washington Circle Luncheons

PMIWDC's Washington Circle luncheons are a series of free brownbag luncheons hosted at 2201 G St, NW in Downtown DC. There are luncheons every fourth Wednesday of the month, unless posted otherwise.

This program series is made possible by the generous support of George Washington University School of Business, which offers a Master of Science in Project Management (MSPM) degree. The MSPM program is designed to meet the needs of working professionals who want to enhance their ability to integrate complex projects, motivate people, and achieve cost-effective results.
