This presentation will provide insight into driving better project outcomes and how Project Managers can apply the findings to improve the potential for success of any project. Most PMs understand what it takes to drive project success. Extensive research has been conducted over the last 50 years to hone our craft in this area. However, the drivers of BUSINESS success is less clear. Do you feel that driving business success is someone else’s job? Many PMs do but the project is not a success without the business succeeding. Most importantly, driving positive business outcomes isn’t as hard as you might think it is. A 2007 study of the drivers of business outcomes for IT projects (i.e., return on investment) indicated that business success on IT projects can largely be predicted, based on an understanding of the key drivers of that outcome.
