About the Presentation

In our desire to have more influence and impact, we usually rely on our expertise and competence. With our expertise, we’re able to deliver cutting-edge results and lead an extraordinarily skilled workforce. Yet the reliance on expertise has a flip-side: it limits your influence, your impact and your ability to innovate. This program is about breaking through these limits.

In this interactive and high-energy program, Josef shows you techniques to unleash your influence. Balancing your expertise with the right interpersonal skill set allows you to advance your work and the effectiveness of your team.

Josef presents a ‘toolbox’ packed with instantly usable techniques, ideas and methods designed to give you a smart, proven, communication-based approach to the challenges and opportunities you face every day. As an outcome, you will gain influence, impact and drive innovation in your organization.

About the Speakers

Josef Martens PhD., CSP

In addition to being a speaker, Josef is a recovering scientist. His PhD in physics from the University of Cambridge led to several patents which then led to a spin-off company that he and his colleagues started right out of university and which was many years later bought up for $285 million. Yet despite his expertise, when Josef started his professional career, he soon realized that other people (with far less expertise) have more impact and are more influential and successful in their work. Josef realized that he is missing something, and he set out to find what it was. He discovered that it’s the personal touch, the soft skills and our way of being that needs to be combined with our expertise. (With the "analytical expert genes" still in him, he turned what he learned into a framework to build self-awareness, developed a toolkit to make it actionable, and called it The Human Elements of Innovation). Once he started practicing this himself, he experienced having more influence and impact and relationships became more fulfilling and his career advanced. Josef has presented his high-energy and interactive programs to audiences in 30 countries on 5 continents to a long list of corporate and government clients. As a Certified Speaking Professional, Josef is in a group of only 700 speakers worldwide who have achieved this highest earned designation of the National Speaker Association.
