Presentation by Lisa Hahn, Senior Project Manager

Project managers play critical leadership roles for the projects that they manage. This often requires excellent client relationship skills, strong communication acumen, and the ability to effectively manage stakeholders. It can set a project off on the right foot to become a huge success or it can be poorly executed and set a project off to a rocky start that hinders future implementation efforts. Before the project kick-off meeting can even occur, there are a great deal of planning and activities that need to happen. Learn the steps that you can take to ensure that all of your future project kick-off meetings are successful!

Starting with the End in Mind: Analytics and Strategy for an Evidence-Based Government
Presentation by Jon Desenberg, Principle Business Strategy Analyst, MITRE Corporation

A growing number of laws and regulations are pushing the government toward evidence-based decision making. Its essential that emerging Project Management professionals and government executives bring outcome-based methods with them to their new positions. This short presentation will outline some recent developments in the world of data-driven management, strategy, and planning and point the way for new professionals to understand how critical these skills will be going forward. Examples and highlights from public sector management at all levels of government will be discussed.
Whether working in the Federal, State, Local, International or non-profit areas, results-oriented planning and measurement has never been more critical as a framework for all public sector executives.

Value-Based Leadership: Building Synergy in a Complex World
Presentation by Eva Vincze, PhD

In today’s flattened, digital world, project teams are usually composed of individuals from a variety of cultural and linguistic divides. There appears to be an increased importance for exploring individual, team and organizational values – how they influence our beliefs, assumptions, attitudes, and behaviors. Change Leaders need to develop competencies in harnessing core values to build synergy in a complex world.
