There is no question there is a long-term trend in adopting agile in the commercial market and the public sector is catching-up quickly. But agile will never totally replace traditional practices because some types of projects are best suited for traditional methodologies and while others are agile.
Managers are adapting to address a mix of traditional and agile projects within their portfolio, like hybrid project management. Managers have identify the following challenges in integrating agile into their portfolio and project management structure:
- Consistent, comprehensive, and integrated planning in a hybrid project environment
- Capturing “real” performance metrics for traditional and agile projects which provide a consolidated view across projects, programs, and portfolio levels without excessive overhead and redundant documentation
- Scaling agile to the enterprise level tied to business value
- Transitioning project managers and developers to an agile environment
- Compiling with regulations (Capital Planning and Investment Control [CPIC], Federal IT Acquisition Reform Act [FITARA], Government Performance and Results Act [GPRA] Modernization Act, Cross Agency Priority [CAP] Goals, etc.)
Event requires registration.
