Many now seeking Certification as Project Management Professionals are stumbling over the Earned Value Management (EVM) portion of the material necessary to master sufficiently to pass the PMP Certification Exam.

This presentation will review basic EVM concepts, formulas, and application as expected on PMP Certification Exams as well tools, tips and techniques to prepare to for and pass the exam itself. The material presented is based on personal presenter exam experience as well as professional PM instructor knowledge.

Café Montmartre is located in Reston, Va. in the Lake Anne Village Center Plaza.

Take Dulles Toll Road West to Wiehle Ave. Exit. Turn right on Wiehle. Go approx. 1 1/2 miles and turn left on Baron Cameron. The next traffic light is Village Rd. Turn left on Village Rd. At the stop sign (1/2 block), look left and you’ll see a sign for Lake Anne Village Center and the parking lot entrance.

When you get into the parking lot, it may seem wrong because you’ll be looking at the back of brick buildings. Park and walk into the Plaza. Cafe Montmartre is on your left.

About the Speaker

Art Garcia, PMP

Art Garcia is a retired United States Air Force (USAF) military officer, service-disabled veteran and career Certified Project Management Professional. Mr Garcia combines a deep commitment to serving the nation with an outstanding background in program and project management, acquisition training, logistics and leadership in federal government, defense, and homeland security acquisition to deliver relevant, practical and innovative coaching and support to federal government and industry clients.

During his 20 years of active duty commissioned military service with the USAF, Art served in a multitude of operational assignments, major defense acquisition programs, both in production and in sustainment, and headquarters executing duties and responsibilities in a variety of leadership positions throughout the acquisition lifecycle: acquisition project manager, test & evaluation manager, systems engineer, logistician, software development program manager, and acquisition policy analyst. Art culminated his USAF career in defense acquisition teaching acquisition and program management at the Defense Acquisition University (DAU), coaching students through team-based problem-solving, brainstorming policy & practice-based options, selecting a course of action, and presenting business case solutions. Since retirement from the USAF and entry into industry, Mr Garcia has served the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) with superb program management consulting and acquisition instruction.

About the Reston Local Community

Each month, PMIWDC Reston Local Community volunteers strive to bring you interesting and informative speakers from a wide range of professions. They present these speakers to you at the Leidos building or other organization located at Reston Town center. This is an opportunity to network with other professionals of the PMI.
