In a global information society, where information travels through cyberspace on a routine basis, the significance of information is widely accepted. In addition, information and technology systems that deliver the information are truly pervasive throughout the organization along with evolving mega trends to include social media, mobile platforms and cloud technologies. These technologies have provided significant benefits to the organization, but they have also added many direct and indirect security and data breach risks.

Although awareness of these security issues has increased significantly at senior management levels, most program/project managers are uncertain about actions they should take in managing and securing their programs and rely heavily on technical and operational managers. Proper governance of security, like any other aspect of IT, requires program management to be more involved in setting direction and overseeing the management of risk involved in the cyberspace. In this session, you will learn:

• Where to start, focus attention and set priorities to establish a secure information systems environment for your program

• How to position your organization to effectively protect business sensitive data, ensure regulatory compliance, and become an information security champion

• What are the different roles and responsibilities

• How to assess your risk profile from a security standpoint
