When is the last time you used your technical skills? Most managers eventually lose their technical edge, and even become—well, frankly— technically obsolete. And yet managers have a major stake in fostering the technical excellence in the skills and the work of their staff.

So how does a manager ensure technical excellence? A number of approaches have been tried. Surprisingly, while some of these approaches can be effective, others are actually counterproductive. In this presentation, we’ll explore approaches that promote technical excellence in your team as well as a few popular but more dubious approaches.

Special Instructions:
Directions:

Café Montmartre is located in Reston, Va. in the Lake Anne Village Center Plaza.

Take Dulles Toll Road West to Wiehle Ave. Exit. Turn right on Wiehle. Go approx. 1 1/2 miles and turn left on Baron Cameron. The next traffic light is Village Rd. Turn left on Village Rd. At the stop sign (1/2 block), look left and you’ll see a sign for Lake Anne Village Center and the parking lot entrance.

When you get into the parking lot, it may seem wrong because you’ll be looking at the back of brick buildings. Park and walk into the Plaza. Cafe Montmartre is on your left.
