This luncheon presentation focuses specifically on applying the personal and social emotional intelligence competencies that project and program managers need to deliver successful outcomes. We will explore skills that will strengthen your ability to build effective teams, operate in complex matrix environments, and provide leadership. We will examine strategies to harness and increase your abilities to regulate your emotions and communicate more effectively with others. By the end of the session, you will gain insight into how to manage the emotional characteristics of your work environment for improved performance that is less stressful, more predictable, and focused on successful results.

About the Speaker

Michael R. Van Dyke, PMP

For 25 years, Michael R. Van Dyke, PMP transformed empty stages into vibrant environments for theater and dance performance. Now through Serengeti Enterprises, LLC, he assists organizations and individuals to achieve their highest potential through training, objective-based team-building, and coaching services. He has been on the faculty at Yale University, Dartmouth College, and Amherst College. Mr. Van Dyke recently managed a nation-wide training initiative for the USDA and provided project management training for a national grant program.  He presents several popular courses in the PMIWDC-NOVA Educational Alliance at the Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA) and at PMIWDC functions.

About the Reston Local Community

Each month, PMIWDC Reston Local Community volunteers strive to bring you interesting and informative speakers from a wide range of professions. They present these speakers to you at the Leidos building or other organization located at Reston Town center. This is an opportunity to network with other professionals of the PMI. The conference center at Leidos offers a maximum seating of approximately 30 guests. Pre-registration is required. Luncheons are held every third Wednesday of the month.
