About the Presentation

We’ve all seen them. We’ve played a part in creating them! We’ve even been them at some point in our careers! You got the raise on Friday, celebrated at happy hour, partied over the weekend, and now you’ve gotta manage your peers! Hold the champagne and insert foot in mouth. What happened to the development? Chris Daniel, PMP (Author of Consult in Jeans) tells his all too relevant story of instant leadership over a team much older than he and how he took the bull by the horns to rise in the organization. This thought-provoking workshop cites:
  • The Mass Exodus of Baby Boomers (institutional knowledge) in organizations
  • The Lack of Development and Preparedness for Emerging Leaders
  • A Plan of Action to Ready the New & Present Generation

About the Speakers

Chris Daniel

Regroup Consulting
Founder

Chris Daniel, The Consultant in Jeans, is the founder of Regroup Consulting, a performance consulting firm, based in Waldorf, MD. Daniel is originally from Thomaston, GA, population 10,000 (on Thanksgiving). As a shy braniac, he graduated high school to attend Georgia Southern University, where he felt his talents were in art and design. After declaring Print Management as a major and African-American studies as a minor, Daniel started on his journey to design professional sports jerseys for a living. Always the behind-the-scenes type, Chris was left in a conundrum his junior year! He’d waited until the last minute to register for fall classes and only had two elective to choose from to graduate on time: Soccer and Public Speaking.

Reluctantly, he registered for both, and joined the classes. HE liked soccer better than he expected. It was an 8am class, so the exercise was great that early in the morning. However, on the first day of Public Speaking 101, the instructor entered the room of 60 students saying: "Ok class, today we're going to do 3-minute improvs from the stage. Mr. Daniel, you're first!"

Upon graduation in 2001, Chris was recruited by the US Gov't Printing Office's Outstanding Scholar Program. He quickly climbed the success ladder and became Assoc. Director of GPO University in his nine-year stint at the agency, traveling the country to consult and train other agencies on best practices. He received certifications in Project Management and Instructional Design, and a Green Belt in Six Sigma, among several certificates in executive leadership from the National Leadership Institute, The Brookings Institution, and Learning Tree International.

Today, Daniel travels the country speaking, facilitating and coaching top performing executives. His engaging, humorous, yet accountable style has landed him projects with The National Science Foundation, Maryland Transit Authority, College of Southern Maryland, Anne Arundel Community College, Morgan State University, GW University, The Project Management Institute, Miami, Newark and LaGuardia International Airports. His debut book, Consult in Jeans, is available NOW!

About the PM Industry Insights

PM Industry Insights is PMIWDC's workshop series that addresses the practical aspects of Project Management.

These sessions are to provide you with insights on what is going on in the local industry so you can learn from it. This discussion-based session will include presentations on tools, industry panels, interviews with industry experts, workshops, etc. The target presenters will be individuals from PMO’s, university professors, consultants, etc.

Both PM Industry Insights and the monthly dinner meeting are worth 1 Professional Development Unit (PDU) each to certified PMPs. Continued certification as a PMP requires the accumulation of these valuable credits and we are pleased to offer this opportunity to obtain both the important training and the educational credit associated with it.
