About the Course

Social media is hot, hot, hot, but can it really help you manage your projects? The answer is yes! The business landscape is shifting once again as technology evolves. The tools of the trade for project managers such as traditional project management software, email, Word documents, and Excel spreadsheets, while effective, also have disadvantages that can impact a project. Social media tools can help overcome these disadvantages, and work hand-in-hand with traditional applications. A fresh perspective on incorporating these tools in the project management process is necessary, but the benefits for savvy project managers include greater communication amongst team members, greater understanding of tasks, statuses and issues, and a more effective method of problem resolution and documentation.

In this interactive, hands-on class you will learn about the state of social media, as well as the various types of social media available and how they are being used in project management today.  In addition, you will have an opportunity to get started with hands-on experience using the top social media platforms.

You will learn:
  • How to improve communication and collaboration using social media.
  • The difference between a microblog, podcast, vlog, and wikis.
  • How to set up profiles of the top social media platforms.
  • How other project managers are using social media.
