Unless you have unlimited resources (i.e. staff, money, and infrastructure), no project deadlines, and high internal customer satisfaction, you don’t need to establish a Project Management Office (PMO). About the Speakers
Anthony Reed, CPA, PMP
Mr. Reed is an IT professional with over twenty-five years in management and executive posi-tions for various Fortune 500 companies, governmental entities, and large consulting firms. Some of the firms included Texas Instruments, Siemens, Motel 6, Ernst & Young, Dallas/Ft. Worth International Airport, and the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas. The responsibilities included managing multi-million dollar departmental budgets and staffing blends of international, multi-generational, multi-cultural employees and consultants.
He’s been interviewed on television, radio, and webcast programs and featured in the business, travel, and sports sections of major newspapers and publications across the country. This includes the PMI Today, Dallas Morning News, Runner’s World, Southern Living, Ebony, and the Journal of Accountancy.
He holds two graduate degrees and two undergraduate degrees. He’s also taught collegiate business management, IT, accounting, and project management courses. He’s served on the Board of Directors for the Oracle Applications Users Group (OAUG), Ft. Worth’s Jubilee Thea-tre, the Dallas White Rock Marathon, and various local and international not-for-profit organiza-tions.
He has spoken at over 100 national and international business, leadership, project management, accounting, and IT conferences. He has five books and over fifty articles published. The articles have appeared in ComputerWorld, Datamation, Career Focus, and Runner’s World magazines. His book, entitled Finding the I in TEAM: Better Team Building Through Individual Building, focuses on building stronger team members. His latest book is Running to Leadership: What Finishing 100+ Marathons On All Seven Continents Teaches Us About Success.
He’s completed over 120 marathons (26.2-mile/42.2K) on all seven continents and in 48 States. This included the frigid Antarctica, Kenya’s dangerous Lewa SafriCom, and China’s Great Wall Marathons. Fewer than 225 people in the world had achieved this goal. (By comparison, over 2,500 people have reached Mt. Everest’s summit, including over 500 in one year.) Subsequently, his journeys were chronicled in his book, Running Shoes Are Cheaper Than Insulin: Marathon Adventures On All Seven Continents.

The PMIWDC Monthly Dinner Meetings are held at the Sheraton Tysons (8661 Leesburg Pike, Tysons, VA 22182), typically on the second Tuesday of each month (subject to change due to holidays and venue/speaker availability). Members and non-members are welcome to join us for the best speakers and networking the Washington, DC area has to offer.
The presentations are educational and informative to those professionals operating in the field of project management and functioning in leadership roles in industry and government. It is also of great value to those looking to step into the field of Project Management and begin their certification process. Each event will present specific learning points focusing on building a talent triangle of technical, leadership, and strategic and business management skills, unique to the presenter's area of expertise and the subject matter discussed while directly relating to improving the practice of managing projects and leading others. At each Monthly Chapter Event certified PMPs can earn 1 Professional Development Unit (PDU).
