Why the Ryder Cup was a Such a Success

Tara Guenthner, Tournament Director for the 37th Ryder Cup, which was hosted by The PGA of America and Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, KY, September 16-21, 2008, will walk us through some of her experiences while planning for this distinguished international competition while detailing some of the key ingredients to the event's success.

About the Speaker:

Tara Hipp GuenthnerTara Hipp Guenthner

Tara began working for The PGA of America in 1991. In 2004, Tara was named Tournament Director of the 2008 Ryder Cup. She directed a staff that managed all corporate hospitality sales, ticket sales, spectator operations, corporate merchandise sales, a charitable giving plan, and a volunteer program involving over 3,400 volunteers.

Previously, Tara was Tournament Director of the 1996 & 2000 PGA Championships, and the 2004 Senior PGA Championship. She is now a consultant and retains The PGA of America has one of her biggest clients. Tara attended the University of North Carolina on a golf scholarship and currently lives in Louisville with her husband Mike and their two young sons.
